Lasseigne Lab

Lasseigne Lab

Because Science.

Welcome to our data science education page.

If you are UAB trainees, faculty, or staff and want to get started, please check out these resources.

  • Information about the Lasseigne Lab-hosted ‘Data Science Office Hours’ can be found in this guide

  • The Lasseigne Lab executes most downstream omics analysis with R in RStudio and we generally recommend the same for others. Directions for downloading and installing R and RStudio, as well as vetted R programming lessons for beginners, can be found here

  • Curated resources and tutorials for RNA-Seq analysis are found here

  • Information about Single-Cell Transcriptomics can be found here

  • Information about the Command Line interface can be found here

  • Information about The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) can be found here

  • Information about the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) project can be found here

When getting started with data analysis, we recommend:
  1. Check the data science guides listed above for general information on your topic

  2. Google any errors you might encounter and first read and try solutions

  3. Leave a message on the #datascience ‘UAB Labs’ Slack channel as described in the ‘Data Science Office Hours’ guide

  4. Attend ‘Data Science Office Hours’ on Zoom or Slack as described in the guide above

  5. If you have tried each step above and still require assistance, you can email Dr. Lasseigne at bnp0001[@]uab.edu. She will confirm you have walked through the above steps and then help you figure out your next one
